Powders properties analyses

Our partners’ laboratories conduct analysis of metal powders of various alloys, including:

Steel grades:

  • carbon
  • chromium
  • high and low alloyed
  • nickel-chromium

Alloys:

  • High and low titanium based aluminum alloys;
  • Nickel alloys;
  • Copper alloys;
  • Bronze-based alloys;
  • Cobalt alloys;

Other alloys not listed here, on customer’s request;

At the moment 89 metal powder research methods have been certified, including:

 

Voids size and particle specific surface identification by applying methods of:

  • Low-temperature nitrogen adsorption;
  • Mercury injection porosimetry;

 

To measure particle sizes following methods are used:

 

Mechanical screen sizing;

  • X-ray diffraction;
  • Electronic and optical microscopy;
  • Settling velocity method;

Metal powder chemical compositions (averaged) are analyzed by applying following methods:

  • Solution chemistry;
  • Spectrographic analysis;

Physical and chemical properties of the powder particles and their individual properties analyses are made by applying up-to-date techniques:

  • Electron microprobe analysis (EMPА), which provides submicron resolution.
